The Gotthard Panorama Express journey combines a boat trip from Lucerne, across Lake Lucerne to Flüelen with a train journey along the historic Gotthard rail line to Ticino in the Lugano Region. The route can be booked in either direction.

The journey is suitable for passengers of all ages, including families with children but please do note the following important points:

  • Tickets: Children can benefit from reduced fares, depending on their age. Please contact our travel experts for more specific information about your booking. 
  • Entertainment and Activities: Remember that the combined train and boat journeys are approximately 5 hours therefore you may wish to bring books or games to keep your children occupied. 
  • Snacks and Refreshments: There are catering options on board the boat but we nevertheless, recommend that you bring plenty of snacks and drinks for your children.

No, the Gotthard Panorama Express is not wheelchair accessible. Please contact one of our Switzerland travel experts who can organise boarding and alighting aids for you. 

What is the difference between 1st and 2nd class on the Gotthard Panorama Express?

Our packages include a panoramic journey in 1st class, ensuring greater comfort and more legroom for you. In 1st class, the seating arrangement is 2+1, meaning two seats to one side of the aisle and one on the other, offering you more privacy.
