Ticino

On this somewhat different panoramic journey, you will travel by post bus from the alpine St. Moritz through the less heavily travelled Bergell, past Chiavenna (Italy) and along Lake Lugano to Lugano.

The valleys are lonely, the mountain paths are full of views and the towns are bursting with joie de vivre and Italianità. This hiking tour takes you through the southernmost corner of Switzerland, from the lofty castles of Bellinzona through lively Lugano to Mendrisio. The different perspectives on the many lakes of this region accompany you on your way to the highlights of Ticino.

Lugano is full of Mediterranean flair and southern joie de vivre. Lying in a spectacular bay of Lake Lugano, it has all the advantages of a world-class city combined with the cachet of a small town. Soak up Lugano’s atmosphere, savour local specialities and admire the splendid panorama over Lake Lugano.

From Lucerne, you glide past the Rütli meadow, Schillerstein, Tell's chapel and other historic sites of primeval Switzerland. From Flüelen, you follow the historic Gotthard route to Lugano, where the southern flair and "la Dolce Vita" await you. The trip can also be booked without an overnight stay in Lucerne.

This journey begins in St. Gallen and takes you on the Voralpen-Express to Lucerne. Take the Treno Gottardo over the Gotthard mountain route to Locarno. From there you take the Centovalli Railway to Domodossola (Italy) and through the Valais to Montreux.
