What is the difference between 1st and 2nd class on this journey?

The difference depends on the type of train: in regular trains, 1st class offers larger and more comfortable seats with more legroom , with the seating arrangement being in tables of two and four. In 2nd class, the seats are arranged more densely and the arrangement is in tables of four only . There are also differences in the steam trains: In the Furka steam railway there is also a 1st class with comfortable seats and a tables of two and four . The main difference to 1st class on the regular trains is the nostalgic ambience of the steam railway. In 2nd class on the Furka steam railway, the seating arrangement is also in tables of four , but the experience is more rustic . On the routes to the Brienzer Rothorn and the Schynige Platte , there is no class division – all guests travel in the same type of seating .

Are the times for the trains and excursions fixed?

Except for the Furka steam train , for which a seat reservation is included in the package, you can choose the departure times for all trains, mountain excursions and boat trips at your leisure. You decide when you want to set off and how long you want to stay at each stop.

Is catering available on board the Furka Steam Railway, the Brienzer Rothorn Railway or the Schynige Platte Railway?

On board the Furka steam railway there is no catering . However, you can buy snacks and drinks in Oberwald, Furka or Realp. Otherwise, you can also bring your own food and enjoy it during the journey. On the Brienzer Rothorn and the Schynige Platte , there are restaurants where you can stop for a bite to eat.

Where do the panoramic routes start and how do I get from the railway station to the hotel and back?

The Furka steam railway runs between Oberwald and Realp . In the booking process , you will be shown the distance to each train station when choosing a hotel. This allows you to choose nearby accommodation as required. Some hotels offer practical transfer services . For details about the transfer, please contact your hotel directly .

How far in advance should I book?
