Eastern Switzerland

The journey begins in Lucerne. After a good night's sleep, the next day you take the Voralpen-Express to St. Gallen. On the third day you travel along Lake Constance to the largest waterfall in Switzerland, the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen.

The Rhine-Route frames the east of Switzerland in a big bow. You start with a proper climb across the Oberalp pass, the region of the Rhines source, continue through the romanisch-speaking Surselva, and get impressive views of the wild rhine-valley Ruinaulta and visit the rätoromanian capital Chur. With the typical local wind at your side you ride through the “Bündner Herrschaft” (famous wine region) and on the Rhine dam quickly to the wide Lake of Constance, where orchards, castles and happy tourist chatter decorate the shore of the green and silver shimmering «Swabian Sea». 

This journey begins in St. Gallen and takes you on the Voralpen-Express to Lucerne. Take the Treno Gottardo over the Gotthard mountain route to Locarno. From there you take the Centovalli Railway to Domodossola (Italy) and through the Valais to Montreux.
