Lucerne in winter offers the perfect combination of city life and snowy winter fun on the surrounding mountain peaks. The cosy city centre glows with the twinkling lights of Christmas decorations that give way in January to the artistic light installations of the LILU Light Festival Lucerne, whilst in late February the frolics of Carnival (Fasnacht) offer a five-day party atmosphere.
Lucerne - Mount Titlis - Engelberg - Mount Rigi
Arrival by public transport from your starting point in Switzerland to Lucerne. Overnight stay in Lucerne.

Round Trip to Mount Rigi 'Queen of the Mountains'. Enjoy a relaxing boat cruise across Lake Lucerne to Vitznau and continue by cogwheel train to the top. Enjoy the panoramic views from the top, if conditions allow enjoy some winter walking, hire a sledge or a horse-drawn carriage ride. There are also plenty of slopes for an afternoon of skiing or snowboarding. Return to Lucerne by train via Arth Goldau or by boat from Vitznau to Lucerne. Overnight stay in Lucerne.

Breakfast at the hotel. Take the train for a 40min train ride to the tradtional ski resort of Engelberg. Enjoy a walk through the pretty village high street before making your way to the Titlis cable car station for your ride to the ski area and higher to the top of Mt Titlis. At the top enjoy the ice flyer, glacier cave and snow fun park. On the return journey stop at Trübsee for other snow activities (payable locally) or some Fondue in the Igloo Village. In the evening return to Lucerne. Overnight stay in Lucerne.

Travel by bus or boat to the Swiss Transport Museum for your included Swiss Chocolate Adventure. The 20 minutes fun activity explains the discovery, manufacture, and transport of chocolate as well as the importance of chocolate to Switzerland. The experience is a feast for the eyes, ears and, taste buds. If time allows why not extend your visit and explore the interactive exhibits of the Transport Museum (payable locally) before starting your return journey to your final destination in Switzerland or extend your stay.
