Your itinerary
Davos - Engadin - San Bernadino - Bellinzona - Disentis - Andermatt - Gotthard Region - Valais - Bernese Oberland - Gstaad - Montreux
Day 1
Individual arrival in Davos. Davos can boast superlatives: the vacation resort with international ambience is the highest town in the Alps at 1560 m and a high-altitude health resort with a long tradition. An ideal place for pass tours in Graubünden. Overnight stay in Davos.
Highlights: Schatzalp - the magic mountain, Monstein Brewery, Kirchner Museum.
Day 2
Davos - Flüela Pass - Zernez - Ofen Pass - Forcola di Livigno - Bernina Pass - Diavolezza - Albula Pass - Davos. (Travel time approx. 4 hrs. / 180 km)
The first elevation gain takes you over the Flüela Pass to the picturesque Engadine village of Zernez, the gateway to the Swiss National Park. The red trains of the Rhaetian Railway accompany you again and again on this route over the Bernina/Albula Pass back to Davos.
Overnight stay in Davos.
Highlights: Swiss National Park, Morteratsch Glacier, Railway Museum Bergün, Diavolezza - Glacier viewpoint at almost 3000 metres
Day 3
Davos - San Bernardino Pass - Bellinzona - Lukmanier Pass - Oberalp Pass - Andermatt (travel time approx. 6 hours / 270 km).
The 65 m high Landwasser Viaduct is the most photographed work of art of the Rhaetian Railway in Graubünden. The Viamala Gorge is spectacular; the San Bernadino Pass leads into the Mediterranean Ticino. Lukmanier-/ Oberalppas lead into the headwaters of the Rhine, Reuss, Rhone and Ticino at the Gotthard.
Overnight stay in Andermatt.
Highlights: Landwasser Viaduct - an engineer's work of art, Viamala Gorge - the Bad Way, source of the Rhine at the Oberalp Pass.
Day 4
Andermatt - Susten Pass - Grimsel Pass - Furka Pass - Gotthard Pass - Nufenen Pass - Upper Valais - Brig (travel time approx. 5 hours / 230 km).
The Susten-Grimsel-Gotthard-Nufenenpass route promises pure Alpine romance. 8000 meters of altitude are overcome, in addition with unique views of glaciers, deep gorges and romantic villages as in the Upper Valais.
Overnight stay in Brig.
Highlights: Schöllenen- & Aareschlucht, Rhone- / Oberaar- & Steingletscher, Tremola - the old Gotthard pass road.
Day 5
Brig - Lötschberg tunnel - Simmental - Jauenpass - Gruyère - Gstaad - Col de Pillon - Lake Geneva - Montreux (driving time approx. 5 hours / 220 km).
The car transport at the Lötschberg connects the Valais with the Bernese Oberland. Upstream in the Simmental, a branch leads to the Jaun Pass. The place names change here from German to French. A moment ago, mountain forests, wild waters, picturesque mountain villages and after the Col de Pillon, voilà: palm trees and southern flair - Lake Geneva can't be far away.
Overnight in the Montreux region.
Highlights: Gruyères - world famous for its cheese, Gstaad - with its traditional chalets, Glacier 3000 - the alpine viewing experience.
