Your travel itinerary
Day 1
Arrival by public transport from your starting point in Switzerland to Chur. Overnight stay at the Swiss Historic Hotel Stern in Chur.
Highlights: historical old town, Brambrüesch - the local mountain
Day 2
Chur - Zermatt / approx. 5 h 30 min
Travel on the Glacier Express from Chur to Zermatt. Overnight stay in the Swiss Historic Hotel Monte Rosa in Zermatt.
Highlights: The slowest express train in the world, ride over the Oberalp Pass, the Rhine Gorge - the "Grand Canyon of Switzerland", car-free mountain village of Zermatt.
Day 3
Zermatt - Montreux / approx. 2h 30
Train ride with regular trains to Montreux. Overnight stay at the Swiss Historic Hotel Masson in Montreux.
Highlights: Gornergrat with view of the Matterhorn, Lake Geneva, Chillon Castle.
Day 4
Montreux - Brienz / approx. 6 h
Journey with the GoldenPass Line in the Belle Époque carriage from Montreux to Zweisimmen and further in the regional train to Interlaken. From here you glide by boat across Lake Brienz. The Funiculare will take you to your destination for today. Overnight at the Swiss Historic Hotel Grandhotel Giessbach in Brienz.
Highlights: Gstaad, Château d'Oex, Lavaux wine terraces, turquoise-green Lake Brienz
Day 5
Enjoy a relaxing day at the hotel with its historic aspects and beautiful view of the Giessbach Falls. Alternatively visit the Beatus Caves near by or climb the Brienzer Rothorn by steam train (Jun-Oct) and explore the wood carving village of Brienz.
Overnight at the Swiss Historic Grandhotel Giessbach.
Day 6
Brienz - Lucerne / approx. 3 h 15 min
In the morning, boat trip from your station Giessbach across Lake Brienz to Brienz. Here you board the Lucerne-Interlaken Express to Lucerne. Overnight stay at the Swiss Historic Hotel Wilden Mann in Lucerne.
Highlights: Giessbach Falls, Brünig Pass, Interlaken - gateway to Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau
Day 7
Return trip by public transport from Lucerne to your final destination in Switzerland or extend your stay.
Highlights: Lucerne Old Town with Chapel Bridge and Lion Monument, proximity to the excursion mountains Rigi, Pilatus and Stanserhorn.
