Via Engiadina

Over 800 glaciers feed the Inn, which begins at the Maloja Pass. The Via Engiadina follows the course of this river on picturesque mountain paths. Far away from tourist centres, you hike through dreamy mountain villages. For more than 100 years, nature has taken its course undisturbed in the most south-eastern corner of Switzerland, and so you follow the Via Engiadina through a mountain landscape that is second to none.

Day 1
Arrival in Maloja
Individual journey to Maloja. Overnight stay in Maloja.
Day 2
Maloja – St. Moritz
After the start, you will reach the Heidi village of Grevasalvas within a short while. Before you have almost reached the valley ground at Sils, the trail continues past Silvaplana to St. Moritz - always with a breathtaking view of the Upper Engadine lake landscape.

Day 3
St. Moritz – Bever
High above St. Moritz, we continue along the high-level trail along Piz Padella to Alp Muntatsch. After a rest, the way to the original village of Samedan is not far. From here it is only a stone's throw to Val Bever.

Day 4
Bever – Zuoz
Up along the Via Engiadina to Crasta Mora. Enjoy the stunning view over the valley and the nearby peaks from the Bernina Group. The tour leads over stone steps and forest paths to a high plateau. You cross a stream above the Val Müra gorge and then descend to Zuoz.

Day 5
Round hike National Park
By bus or train to S-Chanf. From here the tour heads into the Swiss National Park, across lush alpine meadows into Val Trupchun, one of the idyllic side valleys of the Upper Engadine. This varied route offers an insight into the unique flora and fauna of this region.

Day 6
Zuoz - Zernez | Departure
At a low altitude along the valley bottom of the Upper Engadine. The hike leads through pine and larch forests and past idyllic Engadine villages. You climb up to Acla Laret and pass Chapella. Now you cross the Punt Ota stream - the border between the Lower and Upper Engadine. Across fragrant mountain meadows down into the valley to Zernez. After arrival in Zernez individual departure or extension of the stay.

Tour characteristic
A panoramic high-altitude hike for connoisseurs. In order to reach the stage locations, ascents and descents cannot be avoided. For this you need good basic condition. Surefootedness is required for the mountain trails in the Engadine.
