Day 1

Travel by public transport from your starting point in Switzerland to Solothurn. Overnight stay in Solothurn.

Day 2

Solothurn - Meienried

The tour leads along the river past the stork settlement in Altreu. Today's destination is the charming farm of the Käser family, where you will spend the night in a straw bed. Nearby is a side river of the old Aare with an observation tower for bird lovers.

Day 3

Meienried - Biel (Cat. A) / Nidau near Biel (Cat. B)

The Aare was tamed in this section with the Nidau-Buren Canal. In the water today you can see some power stations and weirs. You follow the leisurely course of the river and reach Lake Biel. There you will make camp for the night at the harbor of Nidau and in the evening you can walk to the center of Biel.

Day 4

Biel / Nidau near Biel - Ins

Vegetable fields dominate the picture in the Seeland. Since the course of the river Aare was corrected, this area is considered the granary of the country. You follow the Mittelland route, which runs along the shores of Lake Biel. Small villages with restaurants and beach resorts lie along the way and offer opportunities for short stops.

Day 5

Ins - Murten (Cat. A) / Avenches (Cat. B)

You decide for yourself whether to take the direct route to Murten or to tackle the scenic tour over Mont Vully. Today's destination is the small town of Murten. It still has a well-preserved city wall on which you can walk around the village.

Day 6

Murten / Avenches - Estavayer-le-Lac (Cat. A) / Autavaux (Cat. B)

The last tour leads to the shore of Lake Neuchâtel. Wide reed belts spread out in front of you. From time to time, you will pass small fishing villages like Chevroux or Portalban. A highlight is the pile-dwelling settlement in Gletterens, where huts from the Stone Age have been reconstructed. The medieval town of Estavayer-le-Lac marks the end of the day.

Day 7

Estavayer-le-Lac / Autavaux - Yverdon-les-Bains

You turn your back on the red roofs of Estavayer and visit the long sandy beach of Yvonand. The Pro Natura center of Champ-Pittet is an educational stopover before you reach the baths of Yverdon.

Departure

Return journey by public transport to your final destination in Switzerland or extension of the stay (on request).

The route runs largely flat through the Swiss Mittelland and is ideal for family bike tours with children. Almost car-free, you ride on natural field and forest paths.
