The Rhine-Route frames the east of Switzerland in a big bow. You start with a proper climb across the Oberalp pass, the region of the Rhines source, continue through the romanisch-speaking Surselva, and get impressive views of the wild rhine-valley Ruinaulta and visit the rätoromanian capital Chur. With the typical local wind at your side you ride through the “Bündner Herrschaft” (famous wine region) and on the Rhine dam quickly to the wide Lake of Constance, where orchards, castles and happy tourist chatter decorate the shore of the green and silver shimmering «Swabian Sea».
The Grimsel Pass - an imposing dam surrounded by a mountain world of rock and ice. This is the source of the Aare, Switzerland's longest river, which stretches from the Alps past the hills of Jura to the Rhine. You follow the course of river Aare, visit the deep green Lake Brienz, cross the lively Interlaken and the relaxed capital Bern until you reach the Drei-Seen-Land. Now Aare leads you past the pretty old town of Solothurn until your journey ends in Switzerlands former capital Aarau.
