Entlang der Mittelland Route in Solothurn.

Highlights

  • Largely flat route
  • Solothurn, the most beautiful baroque city in switzerland
  • Medieval towns
  • Along rivers and lakes

Day 1

Individual arrival in Zurich-Regensdorf | Zurich-Regensdorf - Olten

Drive through the Furttal to the Limmat, bathe in Baden, marvel at the Gothic stained glass windows in Königsfelden and yellow irises in the Aare floodplains, finally a relaxing ride on the Aare dam to Olten.

Details: approx. 65 km ↑ 415 m ↓ 450 m

Baden im Kanton Aargau.

Day 2

Olten - Biel

Today the tour leads along the Aare to Solothurn, the most beautiful baroque city in Switzerland and on to Biel/Bienne. Located at the foot of the Jura, Biel is also known as the largest bilingual city in Switzerland and as the gateway to the Three Lakes Region.

Details: approx. 75 km ↑ 405 m ↓ 370 m

Old town of Biel/Bienne in summer.

Day 3

Biel - Murten

Further on through the charming Seeland. The small medieval town of Murten on the south-eastern shore of the lake of the same name has retained its original appearance with its picturesque old town alleys and cosy arcades (a small deviation from the Mitteland route on regional routes to Murten, Avenches and Payerne is worthwhile).

Mit dem Velo durch die Altstadt-Gassen von Murten.

Day 4

Murten - Yverdon-les-Bains

From medieval Murten to the small town of Avenches. It lies in the vastness of the Broye plain, on a hill between Lakes Neuchâtel and Morat, in the canton of Vaud near the border with Fribourg. Back to Lac de Neuchâtel: over 100 bird species breed in the Grande Cariçaie, the 40 km-long marsh and reed belt on the southern shore of the lake.

Details: approx. 45 - 55 km ↑ 295 - 320 m ↓ 300 - 320 m

Entlang des Neuenburgersees auf der Mittelland-Route.

Day 5

Yverdon-les-Bains - Lausanne | Departure

Flat and fertile: the Plaine de l'Orbe, framed by Roman mosaics and the Vaudois hills. Change of scenery from the wild stream of the Venoge to the silvery little "sea", Lac Léman. After arrival in Lausanne, individual departure or extension of your stay.

Details: approx. 55 - 65 km ↑ 295 - 320 m ↓ 300 - 320 m
