The Lakes Route bears its name with good reason. The route crosses some of the outstanding tourist regions and places with resounding names: Interlaken, Lucerne, Einsiedeln and Rapperswil. Those who complete the Lakes Route have seen the most beautiful corners of Switzerland.

Day 1
Individual arrival in Interlaken
Travel by public transport from your starting point in Switzerland to Interlaken. Overnight stay in Interlaken.
Day 2
Interlaken - Meiringen
From the shores of Lake Brienz, the route leads to Meiringen at the foot of the Brünig Pass, with some steep climbs.

Day 3
Meiringen - Lucerne
From Meiringen by train over the Brünigpass. You reach Obwalden: a small canton, a large valley, a pre-Alpine landscape with scattered settlements, shallow lakes and long traditions. As soon as you catch sight of a corner of Lake Lucerne, Pilatus stands in your way.

Day 4
Lucerne - Unterägeri
From Lake Lucerne you cycle on to Lake Zug. Then up to Lake Aegeri with a cool underworld in the Höllgrotten and a grim battle world on the crystal clear lake.

Day 5
Unterägeri - Rapperswil | Departure
Orchids, peat and insects in the Rothenthurm high moor and a busy world of pilgrims in Einsiedeln, a place of pilgrimage. Lovely and useful, the power-supplying Sihl Lake; divided by the lake dam, the villa-lined Zürichsee. Drive to Rapperswil. Upon arrival, return by public transportation to your final destination in Switzerland or extend your stay in Rapperswil.

Tour characteristic
Along the many lakes the route is naturally flat - but between the waters there are smaller and larger gradients to overcome: Less sporty cyclists will therefore prefer to use an electric bike, which is particularly suitable for this route. Sporty cyclists tackle the stages on touring bicycles and, if necessary, shorten them by using public transport.
