The tranquil village of Kandersteg provides the perfect base from which to explore this part of the region, with a full-day excursion by train across the border to Italy also included.

Day 1
Arrival
Afternoon arrival in Kandersteg by train, with check-in arranged at the 3-star Hotel Bernerhof from 14:00. Upon arrival, enjoy a complimentary afternoon tea with tea/coffee and cake in the cosy lounge before exploring the pretty village and enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery.
Day 2
Sunnbüel
Kandersteg is renowned for being the starting point for many alpine and soft hiking adventures. Today’s excursion takes you by cable car to Sunnbüel from where there is a multitude of hikes to choose from. En route back to Kandersteg, why not stop at the historic “Ruedihus”, which offers a truly unique lunch experience with typical Swiss dishes.

Day 3
Italy
Today’s excursion takes you by train over the border into Italy. Domodossola is a picturesque market town in the Piedmont region of Italy and has been the focal point of seven surrounding valleys. Its beautifully preserved medieval town centre, graced with ornate Italian architecture dates back to the 14th century and is home to the UNESCO Sacro Monte di Domodossola.

Day 4
Oeschinensee
After breakfast, short walk to the nearby cable car station and quick ride to Oeschinen. Explore the shores of the lake and the stunning scenery which has been depicted in many photographs over the years. Maybe enjoy a spot of lunch or afternoon snack on the sun terrace of Berghotel Oeschinensee before joining the well-known summer toboggan run (payable locally). On a hot summer’s day a dip in the crystal clear blue waters of the lake or a boat ride is considered ‘a must’.

Day 5
Morning at leisure & Departure
After breakfast, the final day is yours to enjoy. Maybe explore further afield in the Bernese Oberland region or savour some more of the beautiful alpine scenery around Kandersteg.
