Change at the top for the Board of Directors of Switzerland Travel Centre
After 13 years on the Board of Directors of Switzerland Travel Centre, including seven as Chairman, Thomas Allemann is stepping down and passing the baton to Brigitte Berger Kurzen. Together with Barbara Friedrich, with whom she was elected to the Board of Directors, the new President represents the interests of HotellerieSuisse with the Switzerland tour operator. The Board of Directors is thus being restructured with a clear focus on the further growth of hotel, rail and tour packages.
Thomas Allemann is leaving Switzerland Travel Centre after serving more than a decade on the Board of Directors. During his seven-year chairmanship, the company has developed very successfully, both in periods of growth and in challenging times: “Switzerland Travel Centre has evolved into a strong, profitable company over the years. I am very proud of this, but also of how we overcame the very difficult phase of the pandemic together. With record results last year and a very pleasing level of bookings for the current financial year, I am handing over the chairmanship to my successor with a clear conscience”, says Thomas Allemann.
Brigitte Berger Kurzen has been elected as Mr Allemann's successor. Born in the Bernese Oberland Region and a member of the HotellerieSuisse management association, she represents their interests on the board. She is also the owner of the Hotel Royal-St. Georges in Interlaken, adding valuable entrepreneurial experience to the supervisory body. “I am delighted to take over the chairmanship of a company that is actively shaping sustainable tourism in Switzerland. The close cooperation between the hotel industry, public transport companies and Switzerland Tourism makes Switzerland Travel Centre unique – we want to further strengthen this potential”, says Brigitte Berger Kurzen.
Barbara Friedrich has been newly elected to the Board of Directors. As Head of the ‘Members and Offers’ Department on the Executive Board of HotellerieSuisse, she brings an invaluable insight of the hotel industry to the governing body of the Switzerland tour operator.
The Board of Directors of Switzerland Travel Centre is now composed of the following members:
- Brigitte Berger Kurzen, President, HotellerieSuisse
- Martin Nydegger, Vice-President, Switzerland Tourism
- Barbara Friedrich, HotellerieSuisse
- Philipp Mäder, SBB
- Simon Berger, SBB
- Marc Isenring, Switzerland Tourism
- Piotr Caviezel, Rhaetian Railway
Switzerland Travel Centre would like to thank Thomas Allemann for his many years of commitment and his valuable work as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
